A few discussion activities for English language students
In spite of the potential danger with using a ball, I have seen this done with much success and great student involvement. Group finding only exists because matchmaking refuses to include the parameters that players deem most critical to success usually item level, experience, and having a working microphone. The thinking routine that we do well in my class are the Gallery walk and the Speed dating we call it donut talk. Talk moves are sentence frames we supply to our students that help them express ideas and interact with one another in respectful, academically appropriate ways. It's not a difficult technical task either, great moments in it's just that Devs have this weird aversion to empowering players in deciding who they want to play with.
